FRANCIS WEST

Francis arrived in Wan Chai in 2018 and quickly became one of Hong Kong's most celebrated restaurants — winning Tatler Dining's Restaurateurs of the Year and landing on the Tatler Dining 20 best restaurants list. When the team opened their second location on Peel Street in Central, they brought Haig Studio in to design the space.

The brief drew from the Maghreb, the North African coastline where Mediterranean influences meet Arab cooking traditions. Translated into an interior that feels warmer and more considered than a typical Peel Street opening. The challenge was to carry the soul of the beloved Wan Chai original into an entirely new culinary world.

With Carmela now in development, Haig Studio's relationship with the Francis team continues. Photography coming soon.
